Witchworks

Witchworks is a minecraft mod in which you'll:

• Bottle up xp, convert your junk into xp, and otherwise manipulate xp in a whole lot of ways.
• Gather and grow magical plants, which will supply many of your brewing and enchanting needs.
• Craft flying brooms and ride around on them.
• Visit ruins and dig up treasures there.
• Craft Essentia, unique magical items.
• Craft magic wands and throw magical effects.
• Wear a witch hat, obviously.

To get started, you'll craft a Stone Book - a pile of instructive tablets, which will walk you through the mod and provide you with recipes.  Use three smooth stone slabs and a piece of flint:

Witchworks sets up a unified system for essence (XP) management, with caches to bottle it, altars to turn waste blocks into it, decanters to release it, portable stones that store and regulate it, a magic hat that turns damage into XP level loss, and plenty of new ways to spend it - wands that burn levels, and reliable enchanting tablets (that cost huge numbers of levels),

There's flight, on magic brooms (all the better to seek out the various woods and whatsits you'll want to use in your arcane works).

It introduces simple ruins from which you can gain treasures both novel and regular,  as well as a small selection of magical crops you'll find useful, and special planters for them (one of which supports farm automation).  

It is a high-power mod where you get awesome magical stuff,  but it doesn't ever reach the power level of invincibility or total absurdity; enough dangers and concerns remain even at the most potent to leave a bit of risky fun; you just get to take bigger, wilder risks.

Aside: This mod doesn't have any particular connection to the long-defunct  (went away eight years back!) mod of the same name, though I was certainly a fan of the original Witchery Mod, just as the developers of that mod were.
